Your correspondent Amy Lau expressed concern about the special traffic arrangements implemented in Wan Chai, on June 30 (South China Morning Post, July 5).
Ms Lau rightly pointed out that the special arrangements were for security reasons and were in connection with the visit of a state leader.
We agree entirely with her that prior announcement of such traffic measures can help to minimise inconvenience.
However, this cannot be done in security operations such as the one on June 30 due to security considerations.
In these situations, every effort will be made to ensure that emergency services would not be hindered.
We regret any inconvenience caused to Ms Lau and other members of the public by the temporary road closures.
