Your correspondent 'Name And Address Supplied' (South China Morning Post, July 13) complained about bus services from Wan Chai to South Horizons after the fireworks display on July 1.

New World First Bus's No M590 is a circular route from South Horizons to Central (Exchange Square), which operates every day for commuters. The last departure from South Horizons is 11.40pm and from Central, 12.20am. However, after 7.25pm, Monday to Saturday and on Sundays and public holidays, it does not go via Gloucester Road, but via Admiralty and Hennessy Road after leaving Connaught Road Central. Details of this difference are clearly displayed at bus stops and termini.

To meet the traffic needs of passengers attending the fireworks display, we enhanced the services of more than 15 routes, including the M590, and additional journeys were provided.

We deployed additional staff to monitor traffic flow at major bus stops and termini. Press releases were sent to the media about the special arrangements and notices were put up at the relevant stops and in bus compartments in advance.
