Cycling ban on road should be lifted
On weekends I am hard-pressed to find a safe cycling path in the country parks.
However, I thought I had found one when I saw the road which surrounds the High Island Reservoir.
Although there were many cyclists on the road, I saw a sign which said that cycling was not allowed 'unless authorised'.
I have a country parks cycling licence and would like the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department to tell me, through these columns, if that authorises me to cycle on the road.
More importantly, I would like to know why this fully paved road prohibits cycling.
I see dozens of joggers and hikers on it every day, so why are bikes banned?
I hope this is a case of the laws and regulations simply not keeping up with the eco-friendly times and not a matter of discrimination against cyclists.
