Martial arts enthusiast gets 10.5 years for mobile phone robberies

A taekwondo martial arts enthusiast who robbed six people of their mobile phones at knifepoint - wounding one of his victims in the stomach and hand - was jailed for 10.5 years yesterday.

Chan Chun-fai, 21, pleaded guilty at the Court of First Instance to six counts of robbery, which took place in Central, Wan Chai and Mongkok between November 5 and December 15 last year. He had stolen phones worth $15,200.
