Romantic comedy-drama starring Kevin Costner as Roy 'Tin Cup' McAvoy, a former professional golfer bent on self destruction. That is, until he gives golf lessons to beautiful psychologist Dr Molly Griswold (Rene Russo, above with Costner). Now, he must contend with her boyfriend, long-time rival and golf star David Simms (Don Johnson), and even worse, he must leave his comfortable life of failure in a tiny Texas town and prove himself in the US Open. Treasures Of Nature: Volcano Hell

Following the eruption of Colombian volcano Nevado del Ruiz in 1985, which killed 20,000 people, science was set a challenge: to make sure such a catastrophe never happened

again, by finding a way of accurately predicting when a volcano will erupt. Now, it seems one man, the strange and brilliant Bernard Chouet (above), has met that challenge.

Easy To Love

TCM's star of the month for August is Esther Williams (above), famous for appearing in MGM's aqua musicals. At the age of 15, Williams was a swimming champion waiting for a chance to hit gold at the 1940 olympics but World War II shattered her dreams. Her fortunes changed when she was spotted by an MGM talent scout. You can see Williams in glorious technicolour every Friday night starting tonight with Easy To Love, in which she plays a secretary in love with her boss. He pays no attention to her until a swimming instructor and a singer start to romance her. Also starring Van Johnson. (1953)
