Brazil's Companhia De Danca Deborah Colker has astounded audiences globally with this show, which melds classical ballet with contemporary dance to a musical score ranging from Mozart to Miles Davis. The show consists of two acts. The first, Gravity, mixes everyday movements with classical ballet to represent the slowed-down world of astronauts in outer space. Xue Wei Violin Concerto

It has been a great year for the Chinese-born violinist, Xue Wei. He has been invited to be the youngest member of the jury for the Inter-national Tchaikovsky Competition For Young Musicians (in which he won the silver prize in 1986). Xue has also been asked to be acting professor at the Shanghai Music Institute. He will step on to the City Hall stage today with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Yu Fang. Today, 8pm. Dreams In A Toy Box

Fire your imagination with a performance by Japan's Puppet Theatre Kawasemi-Za, a highlight of the International Arts Carnival this week. Dreams In A Toy Box is a series of stories without words, acted out by luminous puppets that walk and fly around the stage as their masters, dressed in black and barely visible, dance behind them. Midsummer Classics 2002

The Budapest Concert Orchestra is in town to play a series of six concerts paying tribute to six countries. Led by music director Tamas Gal and Hong Kong's Yip Wing-sie, the orchestra will perform its first show, Passione Italiana, tomorrow. Hong Kong Youth Music Camp Concerts

Having spent their summer days at a music camp organised by the Music Office at Sai Kung's Outdoor Rec-reation Centre, young musicians of the Camp Symphony Orchestra, Children's Choir, Children's Chinese Orchestra and Cello Ensemble perform their well-practised pieces today at the City Hall Concert Hall, 3pm. $40-$60 Urbtix

Hidden Arts Of Sai Kung

The newly formed Sai Kung Arts Society holds its first summer exhibition at the Sai Kung Town Hall. Sponsored by the Sai Kung Tourist Board to coincide with the Hong Kong Tourism Board's July promotion of the district, the show has been planned by the local arts and crafts community who display work by 25 Chinese and seven expatriate artists which includes paintings, sculpture, pottery and works by a violin maker, a glass engraver, photography and creations by children from two local schools. Face A Face

Gallery On Old Bailey pays tribute to portraiture with an exhibition of Chinese artists. Xiao Qing and Yu Hanxi create portraits of vivid realism. Young artist Peng Weiheng takes a step beyond realism to emphasise character traits of his subjects - he captures the movement of facial expressions - and Li Yongqi uses blotches of colours and shapes to configure the human face in an abstract style. Ninth Anniversary Exhibition

This is a group exhibition which 'chronicles the development of Vietnamese painting over three generations'. Works from the last clutch of painters from Hanoi's French Fine Art Academy in 1945 are displayed alongside works from the 1960s and 70s, and contemporary artists such as Nguyen Thanh Binh and Phan Cam Thuong. A Love Of Art: Works by HKU SPACE Western Art Teachers
