People who expect SAR tenpin bowling prodigy Wu Siu-hong to win every tournament may have been disappointed recently.

But Wu, who won a bronze medal in the World Youth Tenpin Bowling Championship at Pattaya, Thailand, is not bothered. At the championship boys' single event, the tenpin star (1,301 points), who was outclassed by 19-year-old Thailand bowler Yannaphon Larpapharat (1,369 points) and Jarrod Lean from Australia (1,305 points), thinks the result was rewarding.

'I'm really happy to win this medal. My performances in recent games were not that stable. It's a bonus to me,' he said, adding he played the game with a relaxed mentality.

Having taken part in the championship three times, this is the first time the 17-year-old has won a medal in the event. 'I got an average performance in the competition,' he said. 'But the rivals were strong, and they scored pretty high.'

Wu and junior bowlers Cyrus Cheung Chun-chung, Tai Chi-yip and Chappy Kwan Chuek-bun will compete in today's team event.
