Chinese-born author of the acclaimed The Good Women Of China, Xinran Xue, talks to the public at both the Fringe Club and Foreign Correspondents' Club. Having suffered a harsh childhood during the Cultural Revolution, for eight years from 1989 Xue hosted a late-night programme on Radio Nanjing, talking about women's lives and inviting callers to tell their stories. This inspired the novel which has just been published by Chatto and Windus. Sep 3, 12.30pm book lunch. Main Dining Room, 1/F, Foreign Correspondents Club (FCC), Central.
