Mother 'beats school-shy son'

A woman, 41, was arrested for allegedly beating her son, 15, with a sandal and soup ladle in their Yau Ma Tei home after he refused to get up and go to school. Her daughter, 18, called police to their Temple Street home. The boy was treated for injuries to his arms and legs at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The woman was being held for questioning at Yau Ma Tei police station.
