Jean Dube Recital

Winner of this year's Franz Liszt Piano Competition, Jean Dube performs a recital in a last-minute addition to his world tour. The 20-year-old French pianist began his glittering career at the age of six, when invited to open the Mozart Bicentenary with a performance of Concerto No 5 with the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra. Dube has emerged as one of the most exciting names in his field and will perform a programme including Chopin's 1st Ballade. Thur, 6.30pm. Recital Hall, Academy For Performing Arts, Wan Chai. Korean Fantasy

Madama Butterfly

Puccini's opera tells the story of the ill-fated Japanese geisha whose heart is broken by American Lieutenant B F Pinkerton. Lo King-man produces and directs the opera, accompanied by the Hong Kong Philharmonic, and with the Hong Kong Opera Society chorus and a varied cast of international vocalists. Nemesis

One of Britain's most cutting-edge theatre companies, the Random Dance Company, will stage Nemesis at the Kwai Tsing Theatre this week. The piece was written by the company's founder and artistic director, Wayne McGregor, to celebrate the company's 10th anniversary this year and explores the relationship between the body, the screen and the machine. White Snake

Last year Hong Kong Ballet performed this multimedia rock'n'roll ballet choreographed by Domy Reiter-Soffer about the immortal Chinese legend of the white snake who becomes a woman. The show has been met with rave reviews, with its musical score that includes Pink Floyd, Genesis, Tangerine Dream and Steve Vai. Alive In The Mortuary

Another re-run - due to the critical acclaim this play received when it premiered in July, Alive In The Mortuary, written by Cancer Chong and produced by the Chung Ying Theatre Company, is staged this weekend. Inspired by the stories of volunteers of the humanitarian-aid organisation Medecins Sans Frontieres, it is the tale of a volunteer surgeon from Hong Kong who is posted abroad and trapped in a temporary hospital as a war breaks out. Gary Snyder Lecture

The English Language and Literature Department of the Hong Kong Baptist University presents a public lecture today on Innovative Presentation Of Chinese Culture In Gary Snyder's Poetry. One of America's most distinguished contemporary poets, Snyder is famous for his fusion of Asian culture and American Indian traditions in his work. Professor Chung Ling from Taiwan's National Sun Yat-sen University - a renowned poet, essayist, short story writer and film producer - talks. Today, 2.30pm.
