Pipe burst leaves shops and roads flooded

Shops, footpaths and roads were flooded yesterday after workmen reportedly burst open an underground pipe in North Point.

Shop owners brought in sandbags after the freshwater pipe burst in the westbound lane of King's Road outside the Liu Chong Hing Bank at 9am. Pedestrians had to wade through ankle-deep water before police cordoned off the area. Officers also had to close two lanes of the three-lane carriageway and Water Supplies Department staff were called in to switch off supplies at 11am. The road reopened at 1pm.
