Art In Motion: The Second Annual International Festival of Time-Based Media which is organised by the University of Southern California calls in at the Arts Centre today, as a feature of the Indie Shorts film series. Five videos from the festival are screened under a general theme of 'The Vanishing Author': Untitled: Darkness is a collection of 12 one-minute films, The Darkening explains 'how beams of light are used to write space', 18 is an animation that pokes fun at the work of film censors, Island To Island depicts the 'moments of peace and meditation' found on the daily ferry commute between Manhattan and Staten Island and California Dream traces a Korean girl's journey to Los Angeles in search for her cyber-friend. M:Garden

Kung Chi-shing dissolves the boundaries between avant-garde, classical and pop music in M:Garden, calling on such collaborators as pop singers Jun Kung, Eman Lam and Anthony Wong, pianist Nancy Loo, experimental musician Hahn Rowe, percussionist Sam Bennett, actor Lee Chun-chow, dancer Yuri Ng and performer Julia Mok for musical theatre that fuses the spoken word, video imagery, theatrical experimentation and an original score. Little Asia 2002

The annual Little Asia festival draws performance groups from around the region, including shows from Australia, Seoul, Shenzhen and Japan. Arts And Crafts Fair

The Fringe Club throws an afternoon of fun and games at the outdoor Cultural Centre Piazza area on the Tsim Sha Tsui harbour front. The Legend Of Mulan

Uncle Dave's Big Day Out stages a play for children aged two to eight. The Chunky Onion Players performs the show based on the Chinese legend of the woman warrior, with dancing, singing and jokes. Afro-Caribbean Dance Film Fest

Dancer Simo Chau invites Hong Kongers to join her appreciation club of Caribbean dance, food and music. Having lived in Jamaica for six years, the native Hong Kong artist has returned to teach her own blend of tai chi and reggae dance, and today shows a video of her work accompanied by Caribbean food. International Coastal Clean-up

Saturday is the 17th Annual International Coastal Clean-up, the largest one-day, global volunteer effort to help the environment. Last year, in 78 countries, about 745,000 volunteers hauled in more than 5.6 million kilograms of rubbish from beaches and waterways. Saturday, from 9am to noon, at a local beach or waterway near you. Civic Exchange is organising a clean-up of Sai Kung's Tai Long Wan on Saturday and Sunday. idN My Favourite Conference

Tickets may be sold out, but there is still a chance for people to absorb inspiration from this weekend's design festival. Hosted by international design magazine idN, the event runs as a conference with designers from around the world giving speeches about their favourite designs and the philosophy that shapes their work. Speakers include such hip innovators as Karim Rashid, Naoki Takizawa and James Jarvis.
