Mobile-call student accused of assaulting his teacher
A 16-year-old vocational school student was arrested yesterday for allegedly assaulting his teacher when he was told to stop talking on his mobile phone in class.
Police were called to the Jewellery Industry Training Centre of the Vocational Training Centre in Kwai Chung after the 52-year-old teacher was allegedly assaulted and kicked in the chest by the student.
The teacher, who is in charge of jewellery training, complained of suffering chest pains and was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital where he was treated and discharged.
The student was last night released on $200 bail and a $300-surety pending further inquiries into the incident which occurred shortly after midday.
Police were told the teacher saw the student talking on his mobile phone during class and told him to stop, after which the boy reportedly became upset.
The teacher told police the student picked up a stool and threw it at him but missed. The trainee then charged towards him and kicked him in the chest.
He also alleged that the student grabbed hold of him and began punching him.
The student later reportedly punched himself in his chest and called police on his mobile phone to allege that he had been assaulted by the teacher.
Police officers eventually arrested the student and took him to Kwai Chung police station for questioning.
