In this new series Nick Fallin (Simon Baker, above) is a successful 30-something lawyer who's arrested for using drugs and sentenced to perform community service. While continuing to work at his father's law firm, Fallin & Associates, Nick is forced to work for a child advocacy office run by Alvin Masterson (Alan Rosenberg) where he represents abused, neglected and at-risk kids in court. Nick attempts to appease his father and the firm's high-paying clients while devoting time to his less privileged clients. Also starring Dabney Coleman, Charles Malik Whitfield and Raphael Sbarge.


Pearl, 9.30pm

A strange spider from the depths of a jungle is accidentally transported back to the United States and finds a home in Ross Jennings' (Jeff Daniels) barn. After mating with a local spider, thousands of little killer spiders run riot in the small town. The local pest exterminator, Delbert McClintock (John Goodman, above), does his best to get rid of them but when he fails it's up to Jennings to save the day. Also starring Harley Jane Kozak and Julian Sands. (1990)

The Perfect Storm

HBO, 11pm

Billy Tyne (George Clooney, above) is a sword-fishing-boat captain, highly competitive and stung by a string of poor outings. His crew has just landed back in port when he tells them they're going out again. Back at sea they still don't catch anything so Tyne heads east ignoring storm warnings behind him. Finally, the fish bite, but the ice machine fails and they are faced with the choice of heading home through the storm of the century, or waiting it out and losing their catch. Also starring Mark Wahlberg, Diane Lane and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. (2000)
