The SAR government has extended Peter Woo Kwong-ching's tenure as chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council for another two years. The second term, to begin on Monday, will be a testing time for Mr Woo, with Hong Kong facing challenges from the global economic slowdown and opportunities from intensifying ties with the Pearl River Delta region. Yesterday, Mr Woo, chairman of conglomerates Wheelock and Wharf (Holdings), vowed to stretch Hong Kong's reach in global markets by boosting its international trade fairs as well as promoting relations between the Pearl River Delta and the SAR.
