In his 'Monitor' column headlined 'Cyberport rents 'too cheap by half' ' (South China Morning Post, September 21), Jake van der Kamp described CB Richard Ellis as the Cyberport's property consultant.

Richard Ellis is our international leasing agent, not our project property consultant.

During a media briefing at the Cyberport on September 19, a journalist asked whether our project property consultant had recommended that we should consider a downward adjustment in office rents.

I replied that Cyberport office rents had been set in April 2001 and that our project property consultant had noted a downward trend since then in the rents of some similar projects in the region. I stressed that we would keep a watching brief and had no plans to reduce rents.

I did not say that CB Richard Ellis had advised us on office rents.
