The secret of Kai-bong Chau's charm is out. Hong Kong's celebrated socialite has been dangling an ancient Buddhist relic inside his party pants for 17 years. Chau believes the rare talisman - which was unearthed from a 200-year-old grave - is the reason for his 'extraordinary luck'.

The charm has seen him safely through his iconic pink, gold and black/white periods, thousands of parties and millions of photo opportunities. 'I even tie it to my silk pyjamas at night,' Chau (below) revealed.

All this time, only his soulmate Brenda, a few servants and (presumably) his doctor were aware of its existence. Now, though, he's letting it all hang out. 'I've put on a bit of weight these past few months,' he told SAR. 'So I'm letting it dangle free outside my trousers.'

We think it makes a charming addition to his wardrobe.
