A Chinese University survey has found middle-aged people in Hong Kong are at high risk of suffering from coronary heart disease, with 40 per cent of the 316 respondents, aged 45 on average, being too fat and nearly all of them not doing enough exercise.

Seventy per cent of the male and 40 per cent of the female respondents had two or more heart-disease risk factors, much higher than the 12 and eight per cent recorded for men and women respectively in 1995.
