Penny drops on noise curfew

Renovators working on a Mid-Levels flat have suddenly become super-efficient because of continuous nagging to complete their work ASAP. About 4pm almost every day, an employee from the management office of a building on Magazine Gap Road knocks on the door of the noisy 3,000-sq-ft flat in question to give the labourers a lecture, according to an SAR source.

'The workers are told the resident one floor below has to hold work meetings at home, so they have to be quieter and make sure they get the work done by 5.30pm,' the source said. 'But how is it possible to renovate a flat without making a bit of noise?'

SAR doesn't have the answer, but will pass the question to Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Frederick Ma Si-hang (above), who occupies the flat below.
