'Missing' surfer just went for a walk

A Spanish Hong Kong resident, who reportedly went missing after surfing in Sai Kung, has been found safe. Civil Aid Service members saw Luis Diaz, 30, on a hill at Chek Keng playing with a dog just after 3pm. An air and sea search was mounted just after 1pm after a friend reported him missing when he failed to return home by noon. His friend had not seen him since Saturday, when they went surfing at Tai Long Sai Beach. Mr Diaz could not be reached on his mobile phone and his car was still in the beach's car park. He later told police he had spent the night at Chek Keng as it was dark when he finished surfing and he wanted to go hiking in the morning. He apologised for having troubled rescue workers.
