Animals lose out
I HAVE read, not without some misgivings, of the closure of the appalling Lai Chi Kok Zoo and its removal to Shenzhen.
At the same time I read the dreadful account in your publication (Sunday Morning Post, August 1) of the horror inflicted on Siberian tigers in China. Also, recently, there was the sad article on the plight of bears in China.
It truly makes my blood run cold to think of the animals from Lai Chi Kok being ''looked after'' in China.
Could it be that the reason for their removal to China could be a possible ''exotic'' banquet in due course, say June 30, 1997? NAME AND ADDRESS APPLIED
