Yo! It's the legendary Air Dude
NO, THAT wasn't the Michelin Man with a bad case of sunburn startling pedestrians in Nathan Road, it was none other than the legendary (that's what he told us) Air Dude (above).
Despite his lightweight name, Air Dude weighs in at a staggering 272 kilograms according to his alter ego, Jonathan Goldman, creative director of US company Goldman Arts.
''He was conceived for a starring role in a rap video about the dangers of obesity and I kind of adopted him after that,'' said Goldman of the pink monster who is accompanying him on a visit to Hong Kong.
Goldman, a Boston, Massachusetts-based ''environmental artist'', wants to interest the territory in his range of inflatables that span everything from domestic furniture to giant animals that can be used as advertising vehicles, according to his Hong Kong agent, Brian Armitage, of III Millennium.
The pair are planning exhibitions at the Science and Arts Museums in Tsim Sha Tsui from October 1994 - raising the spectre of scores of Air Dude's pals buckling the pavements.
