Why are there so many drunk people skidding breathlessly around Page One bookstore in D'Aguilar Street late on Monday nights? It seems to be a question of geography.

Mad Dog's pub - right under the bookshop, in Century Square's basement - has its popular quiz night on Mondays. The hard-fought competition involves a lot of tough questions about obscure places and long-dead authors.

Contestants have finally realised that not only is Page One open late but, if you get a move on, you can zip up, hit the reference books and race down again before the compere has time to say 'toilet break'.
