J. Lee complained about the police headquarters in Arsenal Street getting 'special treatment' (South China Morning Post, November 7).
We would like to point out that the main contractor of the new police headquarters, who is currently managing the construction site on Arsenal Street, sought permission for the temporary closure of a section of the road. This has been done in accordance with the law.
The closure is to facilitate necessary investigation of utility diversions and drainage connections, including some drilling and measurement work.
The main contractor has obtained the necessary approval through normal procedures from the Transport Department, and there is absolutely no question of a particular construction project being given special treatment.
