Your correspondent N. Millar (South China Morning Post, November 12) criticised the Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa for not attending Sunday's Remembrance Day service.

His letter requires clarification. On Remembrance Sunday organised by the Hong Kong Ex-Servicemen's Association at the Cenotaph, it is our usual practice for the Aide-de-Camp to represent the Chief Executive and the Director of Protocol to represent the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in the wreath-laying ceremony.

This arrangement is considered appropriate and has been followed for some years.
