Card usage jumps
Cardholder purchases and cash transactions grew at a faster pace in the Asia-Pacific region excluding China than the global average in the first three quarters. MasterCard yesterday said the increase was driven by strong results in Korea, Australia and Japan. Cardholder purchases and cash transactions, measured by gross dollar volume (GDV), rose 23.4 per cent year on year to US$128.6 billion in the period. MasterCard recorded year on year GDV growth of 28.3 per cent in Korea, 15.7 per cent in Australia and 11.5 per cent in Japan.
