HONORARY CONSUL FAILS IN BID FOR IMMUNITY

An honorary vice-consul of the East African country of Djibouti unsuccessfully claimed diplomatic immunity after his car was stopped in Tai Po following a chase at 5.30am. The man, 45, was asked to take a breathalyser test but refused to take a second after an unsuccessful first try. Police said breathalyser tests were not covered under the Consular Relations Ordinance. The man eventually passed the test an hour later at a Sheung Shui police station.
