A businessman slept on when a burglar broke into his bedroom in Western and escaped with $8,600, a watch worth $30,000 and two mobile phones. The 56-year-old only discovered the burglary in his Victoria Road home at 5.30am when a neighbour saw the burglar and called police. The intruder, who left a pair of black shoes behind, is believed to be a mainland illegal immigrant.
