Bomber kills himself and a woman after row in Hefei
An unidentified man set off a bomb in an interior design company in the city of Hefei, killing himself and a female employee he had been quarrelling with.
The attack took place on Monday night in the capital of Anhui province. The female victim was identified by police only by her surname, Liu.
The attacker died at the scene and Ms Liu died in hospital some hours later, police said.
Another employee of the company, Ding Chuanhong, was badly injured.
Mr Ding's friends told a local newspaper that he had heard Ms Liu calling for help. He saw Ms Liu struggling with the man, who set off the bomb when Mr Ding tried to intervene.
Doctors who treated Mr Ding said he had regained consciousness but that the attack was likely to leave him blinded.
Hefei police said they were investigating the attack, but had not yet identified the man or established his motives.
'We believe it was a personal dispute, maybe something to do with a relationship, which ended up in murder. We are investigating it as a homicide and suicide,' a Hefei Public Security Bureau spokesman said.
The police said they did know where the man got the bomb but did not rule out the possibility that it was home-made.
In March last year, 108 people died in Shijiazhuang, Hebei province, after a man who was enraged with his ex-wife set off a series of crude bombs.
