Looking for extra bucks

THIS year's Yellow Pages are being distributed and I am not satisfied with them.

I wanted to find the telephone number of the Chemical Bank. I went to one Yellow Pages book and could not find it. Then I looked at the Kowloon Buying Guide. After making inquiries, I was informed that the bank number was in the Hong Kong Buying Guide and because I lived in Kowloon, if I wanted a copy I would have to buy it.

Hong Kong is a small city. I don't see why Kowloon and Hong Kong Island should be divided in this way by those compiling the Yellow Pages. The argument for having three separate area directories is that people prefer slimmer volumes, but that could easily be achieved alphabetically, such as, ''A-H'', ''I-L'' and ''M-Z''.

I am sure that, this division is aimed at getting more revenue from advertisers, as Kowloon restaurant owners will advertise in the Kowloon guide, but will also have to place an ad in the Hong Kong version.
