Eva Chan's letter (Sunday Morning Post, December 8) suggests that the laws on fog lamps will be enforced only when necessary. I think a lot of readers will be fascinated to know why these laws, as well as those on hazard warning lights and lack of headlights, do not need to be enforced. What is the point of having such laws?

Could Ms Chan please provide drivers with a list of other laws that can safely be ignored? Most other vehicle lighting regulations would appear to fall into this category if we are to follow the example of our police.
