Give Mei Foo residents better amenities

Residents of Mei Foo Sun Chuen have had to put up with a lot of disruption in their lives.

We have to live with so many construction sites, including the West Rail and the KMB depot redevelopments.

These sites surround the estate.

We have had to endure this state of affairs for a number of years. As a consequence of the construction work there is a lot of dust in the air and this has led to my little daughter having respiratory problems.

We used to be able to visit parks and other amenities in the district where we could enjoy fresh air.

However, what we are left with now is inadequate and cannot meet the recreational needs of Mei Foo residents.

Lai Chi Kok Park has been drastically reduced in size and is no bigger than two football fields.

However, this small area is supposed to serve a community of more than 100,000 residents.

In Mei Foo Sun Chuen alone there are 60,000 residents.

People living in Ching Lai Court and the recently completed development, Nob Hill, also use the park.

There have been a number of press reports recently about the early completion of West Rail.

I hope this happens soon and that shortly afterwards, Lai Chi Kok Park is restored and enlarged. I really hope for all Mei Foo residents that we can finally see some light at the end of the tunnel.

I appeal to the KCR Corporation and to Leisure and Cultural Services Department to keep their promise to restore the park as soon as possible.
