Canton Road 'Hot Salsa' Christmas Eve Countdown Party

Canton Road in Tsim Sha Tsui transforms into a street carnival tonight with two zones offering entertainment for all tastes. Zone A features British band Vistor Hugo and the Mambo Boyz who play an energetic mix of Afro-Cuban rhythms, salsa, mambo and bolero. Their gig is matched by a performance from Japan's salsa heroes, Ryoko and Ryu - first Asian winners of the World Salsa Congress. Hong Kong salsa dancers Stella and Angelo also shimmy on stage. Microsoft's X-Box sponsors the action-packed Zone B, where there are volleyball shows, skateboard stunts and rollerblading. Tonight, 9.30pm-midnight Free admission. Road closed from 7pm. For late-night revellers, Sheung Wan's Western Market hosts a 'Late Night Latino' party - with a 2,000-sq-ft dance floor. DJ Sam spins salsa, mambo, merengue, cha cha cha, Cuban rap and hip-hop.
