The Macau International Airport said it posted a record performance last year, thanks to bouyant air traffic through Greater China. Nearly 4.2 million passengers travelled through the airport in the 12 months, it said. The airport also set a single-month record in July, with more than 388,000 travellers. Overall, passenger throughput rose about 10 per cent last year to 4.17 million, up from the previous year's 3.8 million. For the year, aircraft movements rose more than 16 per cent to 37,564. Last month, travellers moving through the airport totalled more than 322,000, a 2.28 per cent rise on the same month a year earlier. Aircraft movements for the month rose more than 22 per cent to 3,444. Air cargo through Macau was equally bouyant. Last month, freight traffic rose nearly 42 per cent to 11,441 tonnes. For the year, freight traffic rose 47 per cent to 111,287 tonnes.
