Striker Keith Gumbs hammered a hat-trick as rampant Happy Valley beat Fukien 7-1 in a Hong Kong First Division match at Mongkok Stadium yesterday. Valley never looked back after former South China midfielder Ailton De Araujo, playing only his second game for the club, set them on their way with an early goal. Valley were 7-0 up before Alejandro Ramirez scored a late consolation for Fukien. The victory saw second-placed Valley, with 21 points from 10 games, move within one point of Sun Hei at the top of the table. In yesterday's other game, two goals early in the second half gave South China a 2-0 win over Double Flowers. Indonesian striker Rochi Putiray broke the deadlock with a header and, three minutes later, defender Chan Man-chun put through his own net to kill off Double Flowers' chances. The victory meant that South China remained in fourth position with 17 points from nine games.
