The Ministry of Information Industry is likely to impose a fee on telephone numbers allocated to carriers, a move that could cut slightly into profits, a BOC International research report said. Estimates suggest the ministry could draw between 50 and 100 million yuan (about $94 million) a year with the fees. The report suggests phone numbers will be charged in blocks of 10,000, with each block costing up to 2,400 yuan a year.
