Return of the Backroom boy
Once upon a time, only playboys, models and the occasional lifestyle guru had entree into club king Raimondo Chiodi's little back room in the Kee Club.
Now, though, we can all try to squeeze in. Chiodi - former manager of Alibi and Va Bene as well as the Kee Club - will be running a snug new club on Arbuthnot Road.
Called 'The Backroom', the chic K+K-designed night spot will occupy the old bar on the ground floor of Veda Restaurant. According to the Italian, those granted access can expect a distilled compilation of all his various endeavours. 'Think groovy DJs, live drums and beautiful people,' he told SAR.
The Backroom will open on Friday, February 21. And while the door policy will not be as strict as it was for those wishing to enter Chiodi's private inner sanctum at the Kee Club, it will still be mucho esclusivo. 'For the first few months I will be door bitch,' he told SAR.
Which is wrong, we pointed out. 'What's the male version of door bitch?'
Chiodi thought for a moment and said: 'Those people who can't get in generally call me a**hole.'
