WOMAN, 93, HAS UMBRELLA HOLDING $140,000 STOLEN

A 93-year-old grandmother who had placed her life savings of $140,000 in an umbrella had it stolen on a Chai Wan housing estate yesterday. Police said a woman lured her to the 14th floor of a block on Hing Wah Estate at about 4pm, claiming she could help her buy cheap rice. The woman then snatched her umbrella. The victim told police she felt it would have been too troublesome to bank the money.
