APPEAL OVER NOISE FROM KCRC EXTENSION WORK

UPDATED : Saturday, 08 March, 2003, 12:00am

I would like to know when the KCRC extension work in the Tsim Sha Tsui area will stop.

I am living in the construction zone and the noise has been intolerable in the Carnarvon Road and Mody Road areas. Apart from a one-hour break when the workers go for lunch, the noise is non-stop from 7am to 7pm, and this after complaining to the construction company twice in the past few months.

The corporation claims that the noise is well within government regulations. I think this is untrue. If it is so, I would like the government to reconsider the regulations.

People living in the vicinity may literally go deaf, and in the meantime are suffering headaches and stress. Concentrating on any work is practically impossible and the construction company is not willing to compensate in any way.

Can someone explain to me why nothing has been done. It is the duty of the company or the government to act on this problem.
