DUO FACING BATTLE TO KEEP TICKET

Yesterday's licensing committee also foreshadowed a battle facing trainers Peter Chapple-Hyam (left) and Alex Wong Siu-tan (right) if they are to remain next season. The committee deferred any decision on their applications, but both may face 'show cause' hearings later in the year. The licensing committee advised club management to inform Wong that he faced such a hearing 'in view of his stable performance and his overall unsatisfactory record of stable management'.

Chapple-Hyam has failed to meet the Club's performance criteria to date and the release stated that 'should he fail to meet the criteria for the issue of a trainer's licence by the end of the season, he will be required to appear before the committee, at a date and time to be fixed, when he will be asked to 'show cause' why his trainer's licence ought to be granted'. Chapple-Hyam requires six winners before June 23 to meet the requirements.

Shane Dye's appeal against a three-day careless riding ban was dismissed and he will start the ban on Saturday.
