TWO MEN HELD OVER SHOTS FIRED INTO ANTIQUES SHOP

Two men have been arrested in connection with an incident in which four shots were fired into an antique shop in Hollywood Road, Central, last week, police disclosed last night. Investigations into the shooting had led detectives to recover a US-made Berretta automatic pistol and one round of .32 calibre ammunition as well as a fishing bomb that was placed inside a plastic bag and hidden among bushes in a park at the junction of Tai Po Road and Fuk Wah Street in Shamshuipo. Police said the proprietor of the antique shop had received a threatening letter with two rounds of ammunition enclosed before the shooting, which took place last Tuesday. The woman, 50, suffered slight hand injuries caused by flying glass fragments when the shots shattered the shop's door. Police said their investigation had also revealed the shooting was linked to a debt dispute amounting to nearly $1 million. The arrested pair, aged 30 and 42, both locals, were being detained last night while inquiries continued. Police expected to charge them today.
