In the story titled 'Poorly erased disks leave citizens exposed', published in this section on April 1, Ricky Fan of data erasure company DBTRONIX was reported to have said he was shocked at the lack of a standard information technology policy on the disposal of old government PCs and that some departments continued to dispose of old PCs improperly. We would like to clarify that Mr Fan did not criticise the policy of the government on the improper disposal of old computers with hard drives not completely cleaned of data. There is no standard IT policy at government level on the proper disposal of old PCs. We apologise for the error.
