The wife of a Sars patient was informed upon by a neighbour yesterday when she popped out of quarantine in her Yau Ma Tei flat to visit a nearby supermarket.

The woman, aged around 50, was placed under home quarantine in the Sun Lee Building on Reclamation Street after her husband was admitted to hospital with Sars on Tuesday.

The neighbour spotted her leaving her home at 7pm and reported her to police. Officers were waiting at her door when she returned with her shopping. She was given a 'stern verbal warning', police said, and warned not to leave her flat again without permission.
