Piece of Italian class
CHAN TOI-YIN of Valtorta College became the proud owner of an exclusive Inter Milan replica shirt, signed personally by international football star Hernan Crespo after she won a Young Post competition.
The 15-year-old Crespo fan not only sent in the correct answer to our question but a letter that greatly impressed our editorial team.
'Super Crespo is the dream and hope of every single Inter-Milan fan,' she wrote. 'This shirt is as significant to me as Crespo is to the team. I'm sure I'll cherish it.'
For the competition, we asked: 'What is the name of the stadium in which both AC Milan and Inter Milan play their home matches?'
The answer is San Siro Stadium.
The signed shirt was given to Young Post courtesy of F.C. Internazionale (Inter Milan)
Toi-yin keeps herself updated with the latest football news through reading the Chinese press and Young Post. She is saddened that Inter did not make it to the Champions League finals but watching so many games lately has inspired her to take up the game herself.
'I am looking for a girls football team in Tai Po,' the fourth former told Young Post yesterday.
Crespo - who was once the world's most expensive transfer with a US$59 million (HK$459.2 million) signing two years ago - is an inspiration to many in Hong Kong.
When asked what makes a great team in a Young Post interview earlier this year, the Argentinian 'goal machine' said: 'It is a mix of many things - you need great players of course, but just that is not enough. They must be well-instructed, so you must have a great coach.
'Then, you need to have personal qualities like ambition, the ability to work hard during training and the desire to win. The whole squad should work in the same direction.'
