Patients moved to single hospital

Health authorities in Taiyuan have moved the city's remaining Sars patients into one hospital over the past two days to stop the disease from spreading in other medical centres. The move followed a similar operation in Beijing.

Ambulances initially transferred 28 patients from the Taiyuan City Centre Hospital and eight patients from Shanxi Province No 1 Hospital. More patients were moved yesterday morning. They were sent to the No 4 People's Hospital, which has the best medical facilities and infectious disease staff in Taiyuan, said Deng Xiaowei, a communicable disease expert with the city's Disease Control and Prevention Centre.

Two nurses at the No 1 hospital, where Sars patients had stayed since March 8, said they had had difficulties in doing their jobs before the relocation.
