THE Hong Kong-based Far East correspondent for Britain's Independent Television News, Mark Austin, found himself puzzled when Michael Jackson's doctor issued a statement on Tuesday night in Bangkok saying the star ''will be returning to the stage tomorrow''.

''Did you say returning to the States tomorrow?'' queried Austin. Dr Stewart Finkelstein shot back: ''I did mean the stage.'' Considering Jackson cancelled his show last night, Austin may well have sounded a prophetic note.

WHEN a megastar performs anywhere, a secondary market in tickets always opens up.

Despite the Jackson concert being sold out in Bangkok, some people who had spare tickets were offering them at face value.

Can you imagine that ever happening outside the Hong Kong Coliseum when any of the kings of Canto-pop were performing?
