This super-thin notebook from Toshiba is one of the sleekest and lightest on the market. Weighing just 1.09kg, the Toshiba Portege R100 continues in the tradition of the Portege brand of petite and portable laptops.
Unlike the IBM ThinkPad X31, a small, light laptop with a 10.4-inch display, the Portege R100 has a 12.1-inch screen and no optical drive.
It comes instead with a slot that takes Secure Digital (SD) flash memory cards and a Type I and II PC Card slot. The highest capacity SD card on the market today is one gigabyte, although it is not widely available.
Fitted with an Intel Pentium M 900MHz chip, Centrino mobile technology, 256 megabytes of random access memory and 40GB of hard disk space, the Portege R100 has enough power and punch to make it an ideal companion for travelling executives.
It has two universal serial bus (USB) ports and optical drives such as a CD burner or CD-Rom drives are available as options.
