nepalese arrested by police after scuffle

Two Nepalese men were arrested in a park near Signal Hill in Tsim Sha Tsui for allegedly attacking two police officers who had warned them not to take a bath, wash or hang their washing inside the park. A security guard alerted police at about 11am after two Nepalese men refused his request to stop bathing inside the park. When officers arrived, the men began arguing and allegedly attacked them. The two officers suffered hand injuries. The arrested pair, 27 and 49, were detained last night.

Man cut in half during death plunge

A man was cut in half after he plunged 26 floors from a multi-storey residential building in Shek Kuk Road in Lei Muk Shue, near Tsuen Wan. Some of the victim's remains were found on the first-floor podium of the building and some on the ground floor at about 1pm. Police said the man, 49, had been suffering from a long-term illness.

Exposed legs give away illegal immigrant

Police arrested an illegal immigrant hiding under a truck in Kwai Chung as he tried to smuggle himself back into the mainland following a suspected crime spree in Hong Kong. A driver called police at about 11.45am when he saw a pair of legs under a vehicle next to his on Wing Kei Road. Officers arrived and found the man, 36, who was found in possession of a hi-fi, a walkie-talkie and some other items, believed to have been stolen during his stay in Hong Kong.

POLICE SEEK JAPANESE VICTIM OF PICKPOCKET

Police are trying to locate a Japanese tourist to return 230,000 yen (HK$15,000) and an air ticket to him which were stolen by a pickpocket at Kowloon Tong station. Police intercepted the suspect, 47, and recovered the stolen cash and air ticket following a struggle, but by the time he was arrested the victim had left. The suspect was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital with head injuries.

COUNTRY PARK ROOBERY

Three walkers - a man and two women - were robbed by five suspected illegal immigrants in Golden Hill Country Park, Tai Po. The victims, aged between 55 and 69, were uninjured but had some cash stolen. The robbers escaped on foot. Subsequent searches by police failed to locate the robbers.

There was no winner of the first prize in last night's Mark Six lottery, so $5 million will jackpot to Thursday. The numbers were 14, 16, 18, 32, 44 and 47. The extra number was 2. Five tickets won second prizes of $330,020 and 78 tickets won the third prize of $56,410.
