Man's Heritage: Cats Under Serengeti Stars

Pearl, 8pm

Africa by day is a familiar image to most of us, but when the sun sets and the moon rises, it shines on a different world. Man's Heritage takes a nocturnal prowl on the African plains as it follows five animals through one night to reveal a world that is normally hidden. Although lions and hyenas are active at night, this is the time for smaller, more unusual, carnivores to also emerge. A young caracal - a small, lynx-like cat - attempts to carve out a territory for itself; an alpha female hyana tries to defend her position as queen of the clan against her sister; a female Thomson's gazelle looks after her fawn; a hungry wild cat forages alone; and a pride of lions hunt together.
