Officers investigate 14 red minibus attacks
Anti-triad officers were investigating two separate criminal damage cases in which 14 red public light buses had their windscreens and windows smashed in Kwun Tong early yesterday. Officers were called to a minibus terminus in Yan Shun Lane just before 1am when a passing motorist saw six to seven men use hammers to break the windows of 11 minibuses. The gang abandoned five hammers and five pairs of gloves at the scene before fleeing on foot. Police found no trace of the men. About four hours later, three minibuses had their windscreens smashed in another minibus terminus in Hip Wo Street after police received an anonymous call.
Three burglary cases follow no 8 signal
Three burglary cases were reported while the No 8 typhoon signal was hoisted on Wednesday. The first was made just before 2am, after five men entered a construction site in Wong Tai Sin and escaped with two sets of walkie-talkie and other equipment, worth $200,000. Officers arrested a 23-year-old man in Yuk Wah Crescent, Tsz Wan Shan and recovered part of the equipment at about 6am. At 5am, officers were called to a restaurant in Yuen Long after officers found its rear door prised open. Police said $20,000 was stolen from a safe. The third case was reported at about 7am when the 46-year-old owner of a grocery store on Fu Shin Street in Tai Po found three front gate padlocks damaged. Dried seafood worth about $10,800 was stolen.
Decomposed body found
The decomposed body of a man was found at a Lung Cheung Road hillside near Chak On Estate, Shekkipmei at about 11am yesterday. Police said the man was thought to be aged between 40 and 50. He was not carrying identification.
MAN ROBBED BY PROSTITUTE
A mainland visitor who telephoned for a call girl from his Yau Ma Tei hotel had $3,100 and 400 yuan (HK$376) stolen after they had sex. The man, 27, told police the woman demanded $6,000 instead of the $600 they had agreed on. After distracting the man, she grabbed his money and ran.
